Three Rivers Winery (Winemaker)

Holly Turner, Winemaker at Three Rivers Winery, has been in the wine industry for 18 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Western Oregon State College and began working in food science and quality assurance. Her love of wine led her to a position at Chateau Ste. Michelle, courses at UC Davis, and a stint at Bodega la Rural winery in Mendoza, Argentina, an experience that stimulated her continuing interest in Malbec.

In 2002, she was appointed as Winemaker at Three Rivers Winery, which was founded in 1999 and became part of the Foley Family portfolio in 2008. Under Holly’s direction, the wines of Three Rivers have earned dozens of scores above 90 points from the nation’s top writers and publications.

The Wines. Among other wines, the varietals produced at the winery include Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and, of course, Malbec. As she says about the latter wine, “Our conditions are comparable to the best parts of Mendoza and our Malbecs share many of the qualities that make their wines so special and intense, aromas of blueberries and strawberries, lots of power and that wonderful juicy opulence that defines the grape.”

The spacious tasting room of the Three Rivers is located at the winery and is set atop a small knoll overlooking the surrounding vineyards and Mill Creek. Under Holly’s direction, Three Rivers has earned dozens of scores above 90 points from the nation's top writers and publications. In July 2019, she was named Winemaker of the Month by Wine Business Monthly.

When not at the winery Holly and her husband Andy keep busy with their three children. On weekends you can find the family touring the streets of Walla Walla in their ‘61 pink Cadillac.
